More information about Africa
Africa is a vast continent that spans across the northern and southern hemispheres of the globe. It is the second most populated continent after Asia, and it is bounded on the west by the Atlantic Ocean and on the east by the Indian Ocean. The Mediterranean Sea separates it from the Europe in the north.
The northern and southern ends of the continent display a Mediterranean climate, characterized by warm summer, wet and mild winter, and rainy spring and autumn. In Central Africa, however, the predominant climate is equatorial, that is hot and steamy.
There are 54 countries in Africa. Nigeria is the most populated country with approximately 200 million inhabitants.
A large number of languages are spoken across the continent, but the most popular are Swahili, Oromo, Hausa and Amharic. Moreover, most of the continent professes traditional African religions.
