Europe is the second smallest continent on the planet after Oceania. It covers an area of more than 10 million square kilometres and it has a population of approximately 450 million.

It is bounded on the north by the Arctic Ocean and on the west by the Atlantic Ocean. Also, some of its countries border the Asian continent on the east.

It consists of 45 countries and it has one of the most important associations in the world, the European Union. The European Union is a unique economic and political association of 27 European countries that together cover a large part of the continent. Its main objectives are to promote peace, the well-being of its citizens, sustainable development and combating discrimination, among others.

Europe is a continent with a wide variety of climates, ranging from the warm Mediterranean climate of Italy, Greece and Spain to the Nordic climate of Scandinavia and northern Russia. The average temperature can vary from 18 or 20 degrees Celsius to 0 degrees Celsius.
