Yes, it’s mandatory to apply for the Dubai visa for US citizens. However, there doesn’t exist a visa for Dubai per se: US citizens will need to apply for the United Arab Emirates visa.

The Dubai visa for US citizens is available as a:

  • Single-entry tourist visa, valid for 30 days.
  • Single-entry transit visa. You can get the Dubai transit visa with a 2 or 4-day validity.

Dubai visa requirements for US citizens 

The requirements to apply for the Dubai visa for US citizens for tourism are:

  • Completing an online application form
  • Providing a passport-sized photo of the applicant with white background
  • Having a valid passport, with a remaining validity of at least 6 months by the time you enter Dubai.
  • Paying for the visa fees using a bank card
  • Providing a current email address to receive the final travel document

However, if you have to apply for the transit visa, you will also need to provide proof of having a plane ticket departing Dubai to the final destination.

Each type of Dubai visa for US citizens has its own cost:

  • Transit visa with a 4-day validity: 39 EUR
