Do you need a visa for Myanmar?

There are a few exceptions, but yes: foreigners need a visa to visit Myanmar. Some nationalities are exempt from this requirement (like Singapore and Vietnam), while others can only apply for one type of eVisa and not the other.

Citizens of eligible countries have the comfort of being able to apply for the eVisa online, without having to go to the embassy in person. They can opt between the Tourist and the Business eVisas, both single-entry documents with 28 and 70 days of validity, respectively. For other visa types, it is mandatory to apply through the embassy.

What is the eVisa for Myanmar?

The Myanmar eVisa is the document required by citizens of eligible countries who wish to travel for tourism or business purposes. The entire application process is carried out online, and with Visagov you have access to a simplified form in your preferred language.

Both the Tourist and Business eVisas are single-entry documents, which means that you can only enter and leave the country once. They are valid for 28 and 70 days, respectively. Once that deadline is met, you need to apply for a new visa or an extension (if possible). Otherwise, you will be forced to leave Myanmar or face penalties.
