It is required in all cases, with only these exceptions:
- Those transiting through Singapore without seeking immigration clearance.
- Residents traveling through land checkpoints. This includes the citizens of Singapore, permanent residents and holders of long-term visas.
Importance of the SG Arrival Card for travelers
The most important thing to note is that the SG Arrival Card massively streamlines immigration clearance once you arrive in Singapore. It greatly reduces waiting times and paperwork at the border.
Additionally, travelers can improve their experience thanks to being able to complete the SG Arrival Card from the comfort of their own home.

Difference between SG Arrival Card and a visa
The SG Arrival Card does not replace the visa, it is a completely different document. If your nationality is required to present a visa upon arrival in Singapore, you will need the visa and the arrival card.
If your nationality is visa-exempt, you will still need to submit your application for the Singapore Arrival Card online before your trip.
Its purpose is to provide essential information about the traveler (details of the trip, personal information and a health declaration) to the authorities to streamline the immigration process.

When should you apply for the SG Arrival Card?
You should apply at least 3 days before your flight to Singapore.
Entry requirements for Singapore
- Passport valid for at least 6 months.
- Approved visa (depending on the nationality).
- SG Arrival Card.
- Yellow fever vaccination certificate if coming from a country with risk of transmission, or having recently spent more than 12 hours in one.
- Onward or return ticket (to go back to your home country or to visit another destination after Singapore).
- Proof of funds to support your entire stay.
What to expect upon arrival in Singapore?
When you arrive in Singapore, you must prepare your documentation, including your passport (always with at least 6 months of validity remaining by that time) and SG Arrival Card confirmation before arriving at the immigration desks.
You will be asked to provide your biometrics (fingerprints, iris scan, etc.). You might also be asked to show proof of sufficient funds to cover the trip and a return or onwards ticket if transiting.
If all goes well and you are approved for entry, you will not receive a passport stamp. Instead, you will be issued an electronic Visit Pass (e-Pass), which will be sent to your email. This document is extremely important because it will state the amount of days you are allowed to stay in Singapore. This granted stay is the one you have to take into account, not the validity of your visa. If you are a citizen of a visa-exempt country, you will also be issued an e-Pass when you cross the border.
Citizens and permanent residents of Singapore can go through immigration clearance at automated gates. Recently, thanks to the Automated Clearance Initiative (ACI), foreign citizens have also been allowed to enrol for use of the automated gates or e-gates.
To be able to enrol for the e-gates, you have to be 6 years old or older, you must have a machine-readable passport and you must be a citizen of the eligible countries.
