Conditions for ETA holders
ETA holders must follow these conditions:
- Purpose of visit: the purpose of your visit is tourism, transit or business.
- Duration of each trip: you cannot stay longer than 30 days.
- Travel documentation: you must hold a passport with a validity of at least 6 months.

No, the ETA does not allow work in the country. In that case, you would have to apply for a visa specific for working purposes.

If your ETA expires, you may face fees and penalties for overstaying. It is crucial that if you know you will need to stay for more days, you apply for an extension before it expires. You can apply through the Department of Immigration and Emigration in Sri Lanka.
However, keep in mind that the authorities provide a 7-day grace period from the date it expires. During this time, you can depart the country by paying a fee without paying additional penalties.
