At Visagov, we know that travel plans don't always follow the original schedule. That's why we've developed a new urgent processing option that allows you to get your electronic visa faster when you need it most.
What is Visagov's urgent processing?
Until now, all electronic visas processed through Visagov followed a single standard processing time. From now on, when you complete your application you'll be able to see the minimum available processing time for your visa right from the start, and choose at the time of payment the option that best fits your travel plans:
- Standard processing: the regular option, at no extra cost. Ideal if you have plenty of time before your trip.
- Urgent processing: priority handling for when time is tight. It comes with an additional fee that is clearly shown before you confirm payment.

Please note that urgent processing is not currently available for all visas. At the moment, it is active for the following destinations:
- Dominican Republic
- Egypt
- Sri Lanka
- Puerto Rico
- Saudi Arabia
- Turkey
- United States
We will be rolling out this new processing option to more destinations over time.
How does it work?
The process remains essentially the same. You fill out your visa application as usual, and at the payment step you'll see a new section where you can select the option that best suits your situation. Your choice will be reflected in your application summary and invoice, with a detailed price breakdown so you know exactly what you're paying for.
In addition, the minimum processing time will be displayed from the start of the process and will automatically update based on the option you've selected, so you can plan your trip with clear information at every step.
How much does urgent processing cost?
The additional cost of urgent processing depends on the visa type and destination country. In all cases, the price is itemized before you confirm payment: you'll see the visa cost and the urgent processing fee listed separately, with no surprises. The total is simply the sum of both.
What situations is urgent processing designed for?
This new option is especially useful in situations such as:
- Last-minute trips for work or personal reasons
- Unexpected changes to departure dates
- Applications where the visa wasn't requested far enough in advance
- Frequent travelers who regularly need to speed up their visa process
Transparency at every step
At Visagov, we believe that getting a visa shouldn't be a source of stress. That's why, with this new option, we make sure you always have clear information about processing times, the cost of each item, and the status of your application no fine print, no hidden fees.
Frequently asked questions
Can I change my processing option after paying?
No. Once payment is confirmed, the processing option is locked in and cannot be changed. If you're unsure which option to choose, we recommend reviewing both before completing your purchase.
Does urgent processing guarantee visa approval?
No. Urgent processing reduces the turnaround time, but visa approval always depends on the authorities of the destination country. Visagov handles your application on a priority basis but cannot guarantee the final outcome.
What happens if my urgent visa is denied?
In the event of a denial, the same refund policy that applies to standard processing applies here as well. The additional urgent processing fee is non-refundable, as it covers the priority handling already carried out.
Can I request urgent processing for any visa?
Not at this time. Urgent processing is available for a select number of destinations, which we will continue to expand. You can check whether it's available for your destination directly within your application.
