Indonesia is one of the most fascinating destinations in the world. This Southeast Asian archipelago, made up of more than 17,000 islands, combines lush nature, millennia-old culture, and paradise beaches that attract millions of travelers every year. Before you travel, it is important to understand the visa requirements for Indonesia and have all your documentation in order.

Do you need a visa to travel to Indonesia?

Yes, most foreign travelers need a visa to enter Indonesia. If your nationality is eligible, you can apply online through Visagov for the Indonesia e-VOA.

If your nationality is not listed among the eligible nationalities, you will need to apply for a visa at the corresponding Indonesian embassy or consulate.

Do you need a visa for Bali?

Yes. All citizens of eligible nationalities must apply for a visa to enter Bali, which is the same document used to travel to the rest of Indonesia: the e-VOA.

In addition to the visa, all foreign nationals wishing to enter the province of Bali must pay a mandatory tourist levy of 150,000 IDR (approximately 9 EUR). This levy, known as the Bali Levy, was introduced in February 2024 with the aim of funding the preservation of the island's cultural and environmental heritage. It can be paid online in advance through the official portal lovebali.baliprov.go.id or at the airport upon arrival. The online option is strongly recommended to avoid lines. Upon arrival, you will need to present the QR code you receive as proof of payment.
