Safaris: the main Zambia tourist attraction

Safaris are one of the most sought after attractions in Zambia. The country has excellent parks and reserves where you can witness the most spectacular animals on the continent in the wild. Zambia is one of the few places where you can see the Big Five of Africa (the lion, the black rhino, the African elephant of the savannah, the leopard and the African buffalo).

One of the most important parks is the Kafue National Park. Kafue is the largest park in Zambia and one of the largest in the world. In Kafue, you can not only see a great variety of animals and flora, but it also has enormous landscape diversity.

At Kafue National Park you can take a hot air balloon flight over the Busanga Plain while watching animals from above, one of the most spectacular things to do in Zambia.

Bat migration in Kasanka National Park occurs every year between October and December and is the second-largest mammal migration on the planet. Witnessing the more than ten million bats descending into the swamps of the park is a true spectacle.

Immerse yourself in tribal life

Of the more than 72 tribes that exist in Zambia, there is one that is especially known for holding very colorful traditional ceremonies. The Lozi tribe celebrates the Kuomboka ceremony at the end of the rainy season, at the end of April, in which the king's journey from his palace through the swamps in the area is venerated. The spectacular boats and decorations and clothing of the tribe make this ceremony one of the most beautiful in all of Africa.

Witness the Mwela cave paintings

In northern Zambia is where some of the most important cave paintings in the world are located: the Mwela cave paintings. Spread over an area of about 100 square kilometers, around 1000 paintings narrate the life of humans and animals.
