Mongolian citizens can travel to Vietnam without a visa for up to 30 days starting the 7th of March. Diplomatic, official and ordinary passports will be able to travel for up to 30 days without needing a conventional travel visa.

This comes after the Agreement on Exemption from Visa Requirements for Holders of Diplomatic, Official, and Ordinary Passports was signed between the Government of Mongolia and the Government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

What is the visa exemption or visa-free policy?

Being able to travel without the need of a traditional visa is what visa exemption means. This international policy is established by a country that allows different nationalities to enter its borders without the need of a visa.

Vietnam offers 25 nationalities the possibility of entering the country for a certain period of time without the need of applying for a visa to Vietnam. The countries are: Belarus, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Norway, Russia, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, United Kingdom, Chile, Panama, Cambodia, Indonesia, Kyrgyzstan, Laos, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Philippines, Brunei und Myanmar. Citizens of these countries can stay for up to a limited time period, which varies in between them, in Vietnam without a visa.

Benefits of the visa exemption program for Mongolians traveling to Vietnam

There are multiple benefits of the visa exemption program:

  • Experience a more convenient and hassle-free travel journey.
  • Enjoy a more affordable trip to Vietnam without the need to pay visa fees.
  • Save time that would otherwise be spent on preparing visa documents.
  • Plan your trips without visiting embassies or consulates or waiting in long airport queues.
  • Explore Vietnam to the fullest without visa limitations, allowing you to visit different parts of the country more flexibly

Furthermore, the visa-free policy encourages tourism and cultural exchange between both nations, fostering stronger ties. Simultaneously, it bolsters Vietnam's tourism sector and economy.

Can the visa-free period be extended?

Those citizens that are benefiting from Vietnam’s visa-free policy will not be able to extend such a period. You will have to leave Vietnam once the period expires, or you can apply and get a visa for Vietnam that best suits you. Having a valid visa is one of the travel requirements for Vietnam.

You can apply for either the single-entry tourist visa or the multiple-entry tourist visa fully online. The former allows a 30-day stay in the country, while the latter permits multiple trips to Vietnam within a 90-day period. With Visagov, you typically receive your visa within just 3 working days.
